MENINGITIS

PRIMARY PREVENTION

 
RISK FACTORS
Risk factors to acquire acute bacterial meningitis depend on the causative agent.
In cases of pneumococcal meningitis it occurs in patients with a history of
diseases such as pneumonia, acute otitis media and acute sinusitis.
Groups at higher risk include the elderly , smokers, diabetics, alcoholics and those who develop post- CSF rhinorrhea a fracture of the skull base .
VACCINATION
Immunization to prevent community acquired meningitis , is aimed at
specific risk groups and health personnel an outbreak of
Meningococcal disease suspected and H. influenzae type B.
It should be applied Meningococcal immunization and H. influenzae type B in the
health personnel to a suspected outbreak of the disease as well as in all high-risk groups .

OPINION
Regarding the types of prevention that apply to the disease meningitis, I can give me notice that there are several in this section Primary prevention habarca which involves applying immunization , ie vaccines Meningococcal and Hib B high riesg people who are children and seniors.
